Kwong Jia Yuin

Jia Yuin graduated with LLB (Hons) (Cardiff) in 2019. She was called to the Honourable Society of Middle Temple in February 2021 and was admitted to the High Court of Malaya in February 2022. She joined Azman Davidson & Co as a Legal Associate in February 2025.

Experience

Employment Law and Industrial Relations

  • Acted as junior counsel at the Industrial Court in resisting unfair dismissal claims.
  • Acted as junior counsel in a legal dispute regarding an employee’s monetary claim under the terms of their Employment Contract.
  • Provided assistance to a former employee to bring an action against his former employer for neglecting to contribute to his Employees Provident Fund during his employment tenure with the company.
  • Assisted in advisory work for companies on various aspects of Employment Law.
  • Drafted and reviewed a wide array of crucial employment documents such as Fixed Term Employee Contracts, Permanent Employee Contracts, Employee Handbooks and Consultancy Agreements.
  • Drafted a comprehensive Whistleblowing Notice for employees to utilise the company’s Whistleblowing Hotline to report improper conduct within the company.
  • Conducted and assisted in comprehensive Employment Law Workshops about guiding companies to effectively manage disciplinary procedures, covering topics such as investigations, show cause notices, charge sheets, domestic inquiries, and proper disciplinary actions.

  • Acted as lead counsel regarding a child legitimation family matter.
  • Acted as junior counsel representing a purchaser in a dispute with a vendor over the refund and forfeiture of the purchase price for a property under a Sales and Purchase Agreement.
  • Acted as junior counsel representing a developer in a dispute with a purchaser, concerning the applicability of Liquidated Ascertained Damages (LAD) and waiver of the Housing Development Act and Regulations.
  • Acted as junior counsel representing a project management company in a dispute over a claim arising from the early termination of a Lease Agreement.
  • Acted as junior counsel representing a former liquidator regarding matters concerning the application for liquidator remuneration.
  • Acted as junior counsel representing a wholesaler company in a dispute with its landlord based on a tenancy agreement entered between parties.
  • Acted as junior counsel in a divorce petition matter.
