Arjun Chandra Kumar

Arjun graduated with LLB (Hons) (Northumbria) in 2015 with First Class Honours.  He was called to the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn in October 2016 and was admitted to the High Court of Malaya on 2 October 2017. He joined Azman Davidson & Co on 1 April 2021 and was made a partner on 18^th January 2024.

• Acting as lead counsel in resisting a Judicial Review application in relation to unfair dismissal brought by a former employee of a government-linked company.
• Acting as lead counsel in an Industrial Court trial in relation to the non-renewal of a fixed-term contract of employment of an employee.
• Acting as lead counsel in an inquiry before the Director General of Labour in relation to a claim of unpaid wages brought by a former employee of a non-governmental organisation.
• Acting as junior counsel in a High Court trial in relation to defending an action for contempt of Court against an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya.
• Acting as junior counsel in a High Court trial in relation to defending an action of insider trading brought by the Securities Commission of Malaysia.
• Acting as junior counsel in the Court of Appeal in relation to a Constitutional challenge concerning the construction of a 100 feet statute of a religious deity.
• Acting as junior counsel for companies against claims filed by former employees for reinstatement arising from dismissal, constructive dismissal, retrenchment and forced resignation.
• Acting as junior counsel for companies in judicial review proceedings in the High Court and Appeals in the Court of Appeal and Federal Court.
• Acting as junior counsel in dispute resolution cases relating to compulsory land acquisition, defamation, debt recovery matters and more.
• Assisting in advisory work for local and multinational employers and employees on various aspects of employment law, such as termination, reorganisation retrenchment, drafting of contracts of employment, mutual separation agreements and performance improvement plans.
